Effective Communicator
The person that came to my mind as an effective communicator is my pastor Dr. Sarah McNairy. She is able to talk to people where they are at. She does not talk at you but with you. She makes eye contact with people when need be. She inspires you when she communicates and makes you feel all things are possible. She speaks with clear tone all of the time. She can hold the attention of a few or a whole congregation even the children. My pastor means what she say and say what she means. The way she carries herself contributes to her communication style. She is an awesome communicator. I would like to take on her communication style because I am a shy person. I need to become more outgoing when I speak and not let anyone talk me down as to what I am communicating to them.

Deborah,
ReplyDeleteI also am a very shy person. When thinking of people who are good at communicator I always thought of those who are more confident and outgoing. I would like to try and become more comfortable in situations in order to improve my communication no matter who I am talking to. Normally I think that a person who is a pastor must be a good communicator, but this is not always the case. My pastor is also very much like yours and is very charismatic and open with everyone. It is something that had a big influence on why we chose that church. If you come across any tips on becoming more outgoing let me know.

Deborah,
ReplyDeleteI think being a pastor, that type of communicating comes with the territory. The woman who impressed me is also a lead clergy person. We can learn a lot about effective communication from clergy, motivational speakers, and politicians.

ReplyDeleteI too would like to be to hold to speak and get my point across without feeling intimidated. I like what you said that she talks with you rather than at you. It is amusing to watch and it gives me a good feeling inside and you are able to hear the message that is being expressed.
